Trainee Chef

Passionate about cooking and eager to build a career in the culinary industry? We are looking for an enthusiastic Trainee Chef to join our restaurant team. This entry-level opportunity is ideal for someone who is motivated to learn from experienced chefs while developing practical kitchen skills in a fast-paced, professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with food preparation and basic cooking tasks.
• Wash, peel, chop, and prepare ingredients according to kitchen requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations and equipment.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Help with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies.
• Prepare simple dishes under the supervision of senior kitchen staff.
• Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
• Ensure ingredients and equipment are ready before service begins.
• Dispose of waste appropriately and keep storage areas tidy.
• Learn kitchen procedures, recipes, and presentation standards.
• Assist with stock checks and inventory organization.
• Carry out other duties assigned by the Head Chef or Sous Chef.

Qualifications

• A diploma, certificate, or vocational training in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, or a related field is an advantage.
• Previous internship, apprenticeship, or kitchen experience is beneficial but not required.
• Strong interest in cooking and developing culinary skills.
• Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and improve continuously.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform kitchen tasks.
