Trainee Chef

Job Description

A busy and welcoming restaurant is looking for a motivated Trainee Chef to join the kitchen team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about food, eager to learn, and ready to build a strong foundation in professional cooking. You will work closely with experienced chefs, gaining hands-on training in food preparation, kitchen operations, hygiene standards, and plating techniques. Every day brings something new, from prepping fresh ingredients to assisting during service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in basic food preparation and cooking tasks
• Support senior chefs during busy service periods
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen work areas
• Follow food safety and hygiene standards at all times
• Help with ingredient storage, labeling, and stock rotation
• Learn and apply cooking techniques as guided by the team
• Assist in plating and presenting dishes

Qualifications

• Strong interest in cooking and the hospitality industry
• Willingness to learn and take instructions from senior chefs
• Basic understanding of kitchen hygiene and safety is an advantage
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Good teamwork and communication skills
• Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude
• No formal experience required, but any kitchen exposure is a plus
