Green Coffee Buyer

Job Description

We are looking for a knowledgeable and commercially minded Green Coffee Buyer to source exceptional coffee beans, build strong supplier relationships, and help maintain the quality and consistency our customers expect. If you have a passion for specialty coffee, an eye for quality, and strong negotiation skills, this is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in our growing coffee shop.

Key Responsibilities

• Source high quality green coffee beans from local and international suppliers.
• Evaluate coffee samples through cupping sessions and quality assessments.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules with coffee producers and exporters.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with growers, cooperatives, and suppliers.
• Monitor global coffee market trends, pricing, and harvest forecasts.
• Coordinate purchasing schedules to ensure adequate stock levels.
• Work closely with roasting and café teams to maintain consistent coffee quality.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, inventory reports, and supplier documentation.
• Ensure all purchased coffee meets quality, sustainability, and food safety standards.
• Identify opportunities to introduce new coffee origins and seasonal offerings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in green coffee buying, coffee sourcing, procurement, or a similar purchasing role.
• Strong knowledge of coffee origins, processing methods, grading, and quality evaluation.
• Experience conducting coffee cupping and sensory analysis is an advantage.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and supplier management skills.
• Familiarity with inventory planning and purchasing systems.
• Understanding of international coffee markets and supply chain operations.
• Strong numerical, organisational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple purchasing projects while meeting deadlines.
• Passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning within the coffee industry.
