Coffee Roaster

Job Description

Bring your passion for coffee to the heart of the coffee shop as our Coffee Roaster. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with green coffee beans, developing roast profiles, and turning quality beans into rich, aromatic coffee. You will play an important role in maintaining consistency, experimenting with flavours, and helping create coffee that keeps customers coming back.

Responsibilities

• Roast green coffee beans according to established roast profiles and quality standards.
• Monitor roasting temperatures, timing, and bean development throughout each batch.
• Develop and refine roast profiles for different coffee varieties.
• Conduct regular tasting and quality checks to maintain consistency.
• Record roasting data and track batch performance.
• Maintain and clean roasting equipment and the surrounding workspace.
• Monitor green bean inventory and communicate stock requirements.
• Work closely with baristas to understand customer preferences and coffee performance.
• Follow workplace safety and food-handling procedures.
• Support the coffee shop team during busy periods when needed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Coffee Roaster, Roasting Assistant, or in a similar coffee-focused role.
• Good understanding of coffee beans, roasting stages, and flavour development.
• Practical knowledge of roasting equipment and basic troubleshooting.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency.
• Good sensory awareness and an interest in coffee tasting.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with the wider team.
• Strong organisational and record-keeping skills.
• A professional coffee qualification or relevant training is an advantage.
