Coffee Roaster

Job Description

We are looking for a Coffee Roaster who enjoys working with different beans, experimenting with roast profiles, and paying attention to the little details that make great coffee stand out.

Responsibilities

• Roast coffee beans according to established roast profiles and quality standards.
• Monitor roasting temperatures, timing, aroma, colour, and development throughout each batch.
• Test and adjust roast profiles to achieve the desired flavour characteristics.
• Operate, clean, and maintain roasting equipment safely.
• Record roast details, batch information, and quality observations accurately.
• Inspect green coffee beans and identify quality issues.
• Work closely with baristas and the coffee shop team to maintain consistency.
• Manage roasted coffee inventory and help minimise waste.
• Stay informed about coffee origins, processing methods, roasting techniques, and industry trends.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe roasting area.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in coffee roasting or specialty coffee is preferred.
• Strong understanding of roasting principles, coffee bean characteristics, and flavour development.
• Good sensory evaluation and tasting skills.
• Ability to operate and troubleshoot roasting equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency.
• Basic record-keeping and inventory management skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team.
• A professional coffee qualification or relevant training is an advantage.
• Passion for coffee and willingness to continue learning.
