Coffee Roaster

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and detail focused Coffee Roaster to join our growing coffee shop. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about coffee quality, understands the roasting process, and takes pride in producing consistently exceptional roasts that enhance every customer experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Roast coffee beans according to established roast profiles and quality standards.
• Monitor roasting equipment and make adjustments to achieve desired flavour characteristics.
• Conduct regular cupping sessions to evaluate roast quality and consistency.
• Maintain detailed records of roasting batches, temperatures, and production volumes.
• Inspect green coffee beans before roasting and report any quality concerns.
• Package roasted coffee beans accurately and prepare them for retail or internal use.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of roasting equipment.
• Manage green bean inventory and notify management when stock levels are low.
• Follow food safety, cleanliness, and workplace safety procedures at all times.
• Collaborate with the café team to support seasonal blends, new products, and customer feedback initiatives.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Coffee Roaster or in coffee production is preferred.
• Strong understanding of roasting techniques, bean characteristics, and flavour development.
• Familiarity with commercial coffee roasting equipment and maintenance practices.
• Knowledge of coffee cupping, quality control, and production standards.
• Ability to maintain accuracy while handling multiple roasting batches.
• Good organisational and record keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product consistency.
• A genuine passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning within the coffee industry.
