Job Description

Are you a versatile culinary professional who enjoys working across multiple kitchen stations? We are looking for a skilled Tournant to join our restaurant team. This role is ideal for an adaptable chef who can step into different sections of the kitchen while maintaining exceptional food quality, consistency, and efficiency during service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Rotate between kitchen stations as required, providing support where needed.
  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Assist the Head Chef and Sous Chef in ensuring smooth daily kitchen operations.
  • Maintain consistency in food quality, taste, and portion control.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared and served within required timeframes.
  • Monitor ingredient quality and report stock shortages or wastage.
  • Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures at all times.
  • Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies using proper stock control practices.
  • Train and support junior kitchen staff when required.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment throughout each shift.
  • Adapt quickly to changing operational demands during busy service periods.

Qualifications

  • Diploma, certificate, or formal training in Culinary Arts, Professional Cookery, or a related field is an advantage.
  • Proven experience as a Tournant, Chef de Partie, or in a similar role within a busy restaurant or hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of hot kitchen, cold kitchen, grill, sauce, and other culinary stations.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen sanitation standards.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure without compromising quality.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
