Safety & Compliance Officer

Job Description

A well-established hotel is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety & Compliance Officer to help maintain a safe, secure, and fully compliant working environment. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about risk prevention, regulatory compliance, and promoting a strong culture of workplace safety while supporting the smooth operation of the hotel.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and compliance policies and procedures.
• Conduct routine inspections to identify hazards and ensure corrective actions are completed promptly.
• Ensure the hotel complies with all relevant safety, fire, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate fire drills, emergency response exercises, and evacuation procedures.
• Investigate workplace incidents, prepare reports, and recommend preventive measures.
• Deliver safety training and awareness programmes for employees.
• Maintain accurate safety records, permits, certifications, and compliance documentation.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
• Monitor contractor compliance with hotel safety standards and procedures.
• Support management in fostering a culture of continuous safety improvement.

Qualifications

• Diploma, degree, or professional certification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as HSE Level 2 or 3, NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent will be an advantage.
• Previous experience in safety, compliance, risk management, or a similar role, preferably within a hotel or service-focused environment.
• Strong knowledge of workplace safety regulations, fire safety standards, and emergency response procedures.
• Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate compliance records.
• Strong communication and training skills with the ability to influence safe work practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and digital reporting systems.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and organisational ability.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
