Safety & Compliance Officer

Job Description

A well-established hotel is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Safety & Compliance Officer to oversee workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and risk management. This role is ideal for a proactive professional who is committed to creating a secure environment for guests, visitors, and employees while ensuring the hotel consistently meets industry standards and legal requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and compliance policies.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and identify potential hazards.
• Ensure compliance with applicable health, fire, environmental, and workplace safety regulations.
• Coordinate fire drills, emergency response exercises, and evacuation procedures.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommending corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training and awareness programs for hotel employees.
• Maintain accurate compliance records, certifications, permits, and inspection documentation.
• Liaise with regulatory authorities during inspections and audits.
• Monitor contractor compliance with hotel safety standards.
• Recommend and implement continuous improvements to safety practices and risk management processes.
• Support department managers in maintaining a safe and compliant working environment.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional certification in health and safety or compliance is an advantage.
• Previous experience in a safety, compliance, or risk management role, preferably within a hotel or similar environment.
• Strong understanding of workplace health and safety regulations and emergency preparedness.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Ability to conduct investigations and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Strong communication and presentation skills for employee training.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and compliance reporting systems.
• Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to maintaining safety standards.
