Order Taker

Job Description

We are seeking a friendly and attentive Order Taker to join our cafe team. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring customers receive accurate, efficient, and pleasant service from the moment they place an order through to its completion.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and assist them with placing their food and beverage orders.
• Accurately record orders and confirm customer preferences or special requests.
• Process payments and provide receipts when required.
• Communicate orders clearly to kitchen and cafe team members.
• Answer customer questions about menu items, ingredients, and availability.
• Monitor orders to help ensure they are prepared and delivered correctly.
• Handle customer concerns professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
• Maintain an organised and clean order-taking area.
• Assist with other front-of-house duties during busy periods.
• Follow cafe procedures for cash handling, customer service, and food safety.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a cafe, restaurant, retail, or customer service role is an advantage.
• Strong verbal communication and active listening skills.
• Good numeracy and basic payment-handling abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy when recording orders.
• Ability to remain polite, calm, and efficient during busy periods.
• Comfortable using point-of-sale systems and basic digital tools.
• Good teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Professional appearance and a customer-focused attitude.
• Food safety awareness is an advantage.
