Groundskeeper

Job Description

Our hotel is committed to maintaining an inviting, well-presented environment that guests can enjoy from arrival through departure. We are looking for a dependable Groundskeeper to maintain outdoor areas, gardens, pathways, and surrounding spaces to a consistently high standard. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in practical work, notices details others may overlook, and understands the importance of keeping a hotel environment clean, safe, and attractive.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lawns, gardens, landscaped areas, pathways, and outdoor guest spaces.
• Mow lawns, trim hedges, prune plants, remove weeds, and care for trees and shrubs.
• Plant, water, fertilise, and maintain flowers, plants, and other greenery.
• Keep outdoor areas free from litter, fallen leaves, debris, and other hazards.
• Operate and maintain gardening tools and landscaping equipment safely.
• Inspect grounds regularly and report damaged facilities, unsafe areas, or maintenance concerns.
• Assist with seasonal landscaping, planting, clearing, and general outdoor improvement projects.
• Maintain cleanliness around entrances, walkways, parking areas, and recreational spaces.
• Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures when handling equipment and materials.
• Support the hotel maintenance team with outdoor repairs and general grounds-related tasks when required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in groundskeeping, gardening, landscaping, property maintenance, or a related role.
• Good practical knowledge of plant care, lawn maintenance, and basic landscaping techniques.
• Ability to use gardening tools, lawn equipment, and outdoor maintenance machinery safely.
• Good physical fitness and the ability to perform outdoor tasks for extended periods.
• Strong attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards.
• Reliable, punctual, organised, and capable of working independently.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Basic knowledge of workplace health and safety procedures.
• A recognised qualification or training in horticulture, landscaping, gardening, or property maintenance is an advantage.
