Green Coffee Buyer

Job Description

We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Green Coffee Buyer to join our growing coffee shop team. This role is ideal for someone who understands coffee quality, market trends, and ethical sourcing while ensuring a consistent supply of premium green coffee beans.

Key Responsibilities

• Source high-quality green coffee beans from local and international suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with coffee producers, exporters, and importers.
• Evaluate coffee samples through cupping sessions and quality assessments.
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and purchasing terms to achieve value while maintaining quality standards.
• Monitor global coffee market trends, harvest reports, and pricing fluctuations.
• Coordinate purchasing schedules to ensure uninterrupted inventory levels.
• Work closely with roasting and operations teams to align bean purchases with production needs.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier documentation, and inventory reports.
• Ensure all purchased coffee meets quality, sustainability, and food safety standards.
• Identify new sourcing opportunities that enhance the coffee shop’s product offerings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in green coffee buying, coffee sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management within a coffee-related business.
• Strong understanding of coffee origins, processing methods, grading, and quality evaluation.
• Experience conducting or participating in coffee cupping sessions is an advantage.
• Excellent negotiation, analytical, and supplier relationship management skills.
• Strong numerical ability with experience managing budgets and purchase forecasting.
• Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to interpret market data and make informed purchasing decisions.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commercial awareness.
• Willingness to travel when required to visit suppliers, farms, or industry events.
