Green Coffee Buyer

Do you have a passion for coffee and a sharp eye for quality? We are looking for a Green Coffee Buyer to join our growing coffee shop team. This role is ideal for someone who understands the journey from farm to cup and enjoys building relationships with suppliers while ensuring the highest standards of coffee quality. As our Green Coffee Buyer, you will play a key role in sourcing exceptional green coffee beans, managing supplier relationships, and supporting the development of outstanding coffee offerings for our customers.

Responsibilities

• Source and purchase high-quality green coffee beans from local and international suppliers.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with coffee producers, exporters, and importers.
• Evaluate coffee samples through cupping and quality assessments.
• Monitor market trends, pricing, and industry developments to make informed purchasing decisions.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing, and supply agreements with vendors.
• Coordinate inventory planning to ensure adequate stock levels.
• Work closely with roasting and operations teams to align purchasing with production needs.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records and supplier documentation.
• Ensure all purchased coffees meet quality, sustainability, and company standards.
• Identify opportunities to introduce new and unique coffee origins to the menu.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in green coffee buying, coffee sourcing, procurement, or a related role.
• Strong knowledge of coffee origins, processing methods, grading systems, and quality evaluation.
• Experience with coffee cupping and sensory analysis is highly desirable.
• Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Strong analytical and forecasting abilities.
• Proficiency in inventory management and purchasing systems.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound purchasing decisions.
• Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning within the coffee industry.
