Job Description

Our restaurant is looking for a highly organised and attentive Expediter to help keep kitchen and front-of-house operations running smoothly. The ideal candidate will coordinate orders between the kitchen and service team, ensure dishes are complete and correctly presented, and help maintain a steady flow of service during busy periods. This role suits someone who communicates clearly, works well under pressure, and takes pride in accuracy and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate communication between chefs, servers, and other restaurant staff.
• Review completed dishes to confirm accuracy, presentation, portioning, and special requests.
• Organise orders according to service sequence and table priorities.
• Monitor ticket times and communicate delays or urgent orders promptly.
• Ensure dishes leave the kitchen complete and at the appropriate temperature.
• Assist servers with clarifying modifications, allergies, and guest requests.
• Identify missing items or discrepancies before food reaches the dining area.
• Maintain an organised pass and support efficient kitchen workflow.
• Help manage service during peak periods while maintaining attention to detail.
• Follow restaurant food safety, hygiene, and service standards.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an Expediter, Food Runner, Server, Kitchen Assistant, or similar restaurant role.
• Strong understanding of restaurant service and kitchen operations.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong attention to detail and order accuracy.
• Good knowledge of food presentation and basic food safety practices.
• Ability to remain calm and organised during busy service periods.
• Good physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods.
• A culinary, food service, or restaurant management qualification is an advantage.
