Director of Purchasing

Job Description

A growing, quality-focused café is looking for a strategic and detail-driven Director of Purchasing to oversee all sourcing and procurement activities. This role is perfect for someone who understands the balance between cost efficiency, product quality, and strong supplier relationships in a fast-paced hospitality environment. You will play a key role in shaping what the café serves by ensuring every ingredient, supply, and material meets high standards while staying within budget and supporting smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage purchasing strategies aligned with the café’s goals and budget
• Source high-quality ingredients, beverages, packaging, and operational supplies
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to ensure value and consistency
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate with inventory and kitchen teams
• Analyze market trends to identify cost-saving and quality improvement opportunities
• Ensure compliance with hygiene, safety, and procurement standards
• Work closely with management to forecast supply needs and seasonal demands

Qualifications

• Proven experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in hospitality or food service
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
• Good understanding of food ingredients, café operations, and inventory systems
• Excellent analytical and budgeting abilities
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple suppliers
• Proficiency with procurement or inventory software is an advantage
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
