Job Description

Our hotel is seeking an accomplished and strategic Director of Purchasing to lead our procurement function and ensure the hotel consistently receives quality products and services at competitive value. The successful candidate will oversee purchasing operations, supplier relationships, inventory requirements, and procurement strategies while supporting efficient hotel operations and maintaining strong financial controls.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with the hotel’s operational and financial objectives.
  • Lead the sourcing, evaluation, negotiation, and selection of suppliers.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Monitor purchasing costs and identify opportunities for savings without compromising quality.
  • Oversee purchase orders, contracts, quotations, and procurement documentation.
  • Coordinate with food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering, finance, and other departments to anticipate purchasing needs.
  • Ensure all purchased goods meet established quality, safety, and specification standards.
  • Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, pricing, and contract compliance.
  • Establish appropriate purchasing controls and approval procedures.
  • Analyse procurement data, expenditure patterns, and market trends to support informed decisions.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop members of the purchasing team.
  • Ensure purchasing activities comply with hotel policies, applicable regulations, and ethical procurement standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management is an advantage.
  • Significant experience in purchasing or procurement within a hotel or large-scale service environment, including previous managerial responsibility.
  • Strong knowledge of supplier management, contract negotiation, inventory control, and cost analysis.
  • Excellent financial, analytical, organisational, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with procurement, inventory management, and spreadsheet software.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a practical and results-oriented approach.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-management skills.
  • High standards of integrity, accuracy, confidentiality, and commercial awareness.
