Director of Purchasing

Job Description

A busy restaurant operation is looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Director of Purchasing to oversee procurement, supplier relationships, and inventory planning. If you enjoy negotiating deals, keeping operations running smoothly, and ensuring quality products arrive on time and within budget, this role could be a great fit. You’ll play an important part in helping the kitchen and restaurant team operate efficiently every day.

Responsibilities

• Oversee purchasing activities for food, beverages, kitchen supplies, equipment, and operational materials
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery schedules
• Monitor stock levels and coordinate purchasing to avoid shortages or overstocking
• Work closely with kitchen, finance, and operations teams to forecast purchasing needs
• Track purchasing budgets, invoices, and supplier performance to maintain cost efficiency
• Ensure products meet quality, safety, and restaurant standards
• Analyze purchasing trends and recommend cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
• Maintain accurate procurement records and inventory reports

Qualifications

• Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or inventory management, preferably in hospitality or food service
• Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities
• Good financial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and control costs
• Proficiency in inventory systems, spreadsheets, and purchasing software
• Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to work across departments
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced restaurant environment
• High attention to detail and commitment to operational excellence
