Director of Purchasing

Job Description

An established hotel is seeking an experienced Director of Purchasing to oversee all procurement activities, supplier relationships, inventory planning, and purchasing operations. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the timely acquisition of quality goods and services while maintaining cost efficiency, compliance, and operational excellence across all hotel departments.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with operational and financial objectives.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors to secure competitive pricing and favorable contract terms.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with approved suppliers.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing schedules to prevent shortages or excess stock.
• Oversee procurement for food and beverage, housekeeping, engineering, front office, and administrative departments.
• Ensure all purchases comply with company policies and budget guidelines.
• Review supplier performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with department heads to forecast purchasing requirements.
• Prepare procurement reports, spending analyses, and cost-saving recommendations.
• Lead, mentor, and supervise the purchasing team while promoting high performance and accountability.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a senior purchasing or procurement leadership role, preferably within a hotel or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of procurement principles, contract negotiation, inventory management, and supplier evaluation.
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets and implement cost-control initiatives.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and decision-making abilities with attention to detail.
• Experience using procurement, inventory, and enterprise resource planning systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong understanding of purchasing regulations, ethical sourcing, and compliance standards.
• Professional procurement certification is an advantage.
