Coffee Roaster

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Coffee Roaster to join our coffee shop team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with premium coffee beans, maintaining consistency, and contributing to an outstanding coffee experience for every customer.

Responsibilities

• Roast coffee beans according to established roast profiles and quality standards.
• Monitor roasting equipment and adjust settings to achieve consistent results.
• Evaluate roasted coffee through cupping and quality assessments.
• Sort, blend, and package roasted coffee for retail and in-house use.
• Maintain accurate records of roasting batches, inventory, and production schedules.
• Inspect green coffee beans for quality before roasting.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of roasting equipment.
• Work closely with baristas and management to develop new roast profiles and seasonal offerings.
• Ensure all food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards are followed.
• Assist with inventory management and stock rotation of green and roasted coffee.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Coffee Roaster or in coffee production is preferred.
• Knowledge of coffee roasting techniques, bean origins, and flavour development.
• Familiarity with roasting equipment and quality control processes.
• Ability to identify roast defects and make precise adjustments during production.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to lift and move coffee bags and stand for extended periods.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
• Food safety certification is an advantage.
• A genuine passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning.
