Coffee Roaster

Job Description

A growing coffee shop is looking for a passionate and detail-oriented Coffee Roaster to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the science and craft of coffee roasting and takes pride in producing consistently high-quality coffee. You will play a key role in developing roast profiles, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring every batch meets our expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Roast coffee beans according to established roast profiles and quality standards.
• Monitor roasting equipment and adjust roasting parameters to achieve consistency.
• Evaluate roasted coffee through cupping and quality control procedures.
• Maintain accurate roasting logs, inventory records, and production schedules.
• Inspect green coffee beans before roasting and report any quality concerns.
• Package, label, and prepare roasted coffee for retail and café use.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of roasting equipment.
• Work closely with the café team to support seasonal blends and specialty offerings.
• Monitor stock levels of green and roasted coffee and assist with inventory management.
• Follow food safety, cleanliness, and workplace safety procedures at all times.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Coffee Roaster or in coffee production is preferred.
• Strong understanding of coffee roasting techniques, bean characteristics, and flavour development.
• Experience operating commercial coffee roasting equipment is an advantage.
• Familiarity with coffee cupping and quality evaluation methods.
• Ability to maintain consistency while managing multiple roasting batches.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
• Good record-keeping and inventory management abilities.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Physically capable of handling coffee bags and standing for extended periods.
• Willingness to learn new roasting techniques and contribute to continuous improvement.
