Coffee Roaster

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Coffee Roaster to join our growing coffee shop team. In this role, you will be responsible for transforming premium green coffee beans into exceptional roasts while maintaining consistency, flavour, and freshness. Key Responsibilities

• Roast coffee beans according to established roast profiles and quality standards.
• Monitor roasting equipment and make adjustments to achieve consistent results.
• Evaluate roasted coffee through cupping and quality control processes.
• Record roast data, batch information, and production logs accurately.
• Source, inspect, and manage green coffee bean inventory.
• Package, label, and prepare roasted coffee for retail and wholesale orders.
• Maintain roasting equipment and coordinate routine servicing when required.
• Ensure compliance with food safety, cleanliness, and workplace safety standards.
• Work closely with baristas and management to develop seasonal and signature coffee offerings.
• Minimise waste while maintaining production efficiency.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Coffee Roaster or in coffee production is preferred.
• Strong understanding of coffee origins, processing methods, and roast development.
• Experience operating commercial coffee roasting equipment is an advantage.
• Ability to identify flavour profiles through cupping and sensory evaluation.
• Familiarity with quality control procedures and inventory management.
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to lift and move coffee bags and work in a production environment.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A genuine passion for specialty coffee and continuous professional development.
