Coffee Roaster

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Coffee Roaster to join our growing coffee shop team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with specialty coffee, understands the roasting process, and takes pride in producing consistent, high-quality roasts that enhance every cup. Responsibilities

• Roast coffee beans according to established roast profiles and quality standards.
• Monitor roasting equipment to ensure optimal performance and consistency.
• Evaluate roasted coffee through cupping and quality assessments.
• Adjust roasting profiles based on bean characteristics and desired flavour outcomes.
• Maintain accurate production, inventory, and roast records.
• Store green and roasted coffee properly to preserve freshness and quality.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic maintenance of roasting equipment.
• Work closely with the café team to ensure coffee availability and consistency.
• Monitor green coffee inventory and report stock requirements.
• Follow food safety, cleanliness, and workplace safety standards at all times.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Coffee Roaster or in a coffee production environment is preferred.
• Strong understanding of coffee roasting techniques and bean characteristics.
• Knowledge of roast profiling, cupping, and coffee quality evaluation.
• Ability to operate and maintain commercial coffee roasting equipment.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
• Good organisational and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage production schedules.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to lift coffee bags and stand for extended periods.
• A genuine passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning.
