Assistant Barista

Job Description

Our coffee shop is looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Barista to join the team and help create great experiences, one cup at a time. You will work alongside experienced baristas, learn the craft of coffee preparation, and help keep the shop welcoming, organised, and running smoothly. If you enjoy working with people, have a positive attitude, and are ready to grow your coffee skills, this could be a great opportunity for you.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing coffee, tea, and other beverages according to shop standards.
• Take customer orders and provide friendly, attentive service.
• Operate coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment safely.
• Keep counters, equipment, and service areas clean and organised.
• Restock coffee beans, milk, cups, syrups, and other supplies.
• Support the team during busy periods to maintain efficient service.
• Handle payments accurately when required.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace procedures.
• Learn and apply different coffee preparation techniques.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a coffee shop, café, restaurant, or customer service role is an advantage.
• Genuine interest in coffee and willingness to learn barista skills.
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Friendly, reliable, and comfortable working as part of a team.
• Ability to remain calm and organised during busy periods.
• Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Good attention to detail and a strong sense of cleanliness.
• Barista training or a recognised coffee qualification is a plus.
