Green Coffee Buyer

Job Description

We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Green Coffee Buyer to join our coffee shop team. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for specialty coffee, strong sourcing expertise, and the ability to build lasting relationships with coffee producers and suppliers while ensuring every bean meets exceptional quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Source high-quality green coffee beans from trusted local and international suppliers.
• Evaluate coffee samples through cupping sessions and quality assessments.
• Negotiate purchasing agreements, pricing, and supply contracts.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with farmers, cooperatives, exporters, and importers.
• Monitor market trends, harvest forecasts, and coffee price movements.
• Coordinate purchasing schedules to maintain optimal inventory levels.
• Work closely with the roasting team to ensure beans meet flavor and quality expectations.
• Verify that purchased coffee complies with food safety and quality standards.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier documentation, and inventory reports.
• Identify opportunities to expand the coffee selection with unique origins and seasonal offerings.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in green coffee sourcing, coffee procurement, or specialty coffee purchasing.
• Strong understanding of coffee origins, processing methods, grading, and quality evaluation.
• Experience conducting coffee cupping and sensory analysis.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills.
• Ability to analyze market data and make informed purchasing decisions.
• Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to manage multiple supplier relationships and purchasing timelines.
• Knowledge of sustainable and ethical coffee sourcing practices is an advantage.
• Specialty coffee certifications or professional coffee education are beneficial.
