Sanitation Officer

Job Description

A high-quality hotel is looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Sanitation Officer to maintain exceptional cleanliness and hygiene standards across all operational areas. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in creating a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for guests and employees while ensuring compliance with sanitation and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor cleanliness and sanitation standards throughout guest and staff areas.
• Conduct routine inspections of guest rooms, public spaces, kitchens, restaurants, and back-of-house areas.
• Develop and implement cleaning schedules and sanitation procedures.
• Ensure cleaning chemicals are stored, handled, and used safely.
• Train employees on proper hygiene, sanitation practices, and infection prevention.
• Monitor waste management and coordinate timely disposal of refuse.
• Keep accurate sanitation records, inspection reports, and corrective action logs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Investigate sanitation concerns and implement effective corrective measures.
• Work closely with housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance, and management to uphold cleanliness standards.
• Monitor inventory levels of cleaning supplies and recommend replenishment when needed.
• Support audits and regulatory inspections by maintaining required documentation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in sanitation, environmental health, housekeeping supervision, or facility hygiene within a hotel or similar environment.
• Knowledge of sanitation standards, infection prevention, and safe chemical handling procedures.
• Familiarity with health and safety regulations and inspection processes.
• Strong observational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent organisational and record-keeping abilities.
• Ability to train and guide staff on sanitation best practices.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Proficiency in using basic computer applications for reporting and documentation.
