Job Description

A well-established hotel is looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Safety & Compliance Officer to help maintain a safe, secure, and fully compliant working environment. This role is ideal for a professional who is committed to promoting workplace safety, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting operational excellence across all hotel departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and compliance policies and procedures.
  • Conduct routine safety inspections and risk assessments throughout the hotel.
  • Ensure compliance with local safety regulations, fire codes, and industry standards.
  • Coordinate emergency preparedness plans, evacuation drills, and incident response procedures.
  • Investigate workplace accidents, incidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and recommendations.
  • Deliver safety training and awareness programmes for employees.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, certifications, permits, and compliance documentation.
  • Liaise with regulatory authorities and support external audits and inspections.
  • Monitor the condition of safety equipment, fire protection systems, and emergency exits.
  • Collaborate with department heads to address safety concerns and implement corrective actions.
  • Promote a strong culture of safety and continuous improvement throughout the hotel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Health and Safety or Compliance Management is an advantage.
  • Proven experience in a safety, compliance, or risk management role, preferably within a hotel or similar environment.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety regulations, fire safety standards, and emergency response procedures.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and compliance inspections.
  • Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills.
  • Effective communication and training presentation skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital record management systems.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and organisational skills.
