Pastry Cook

Job Description

We are looking for a skilled and creative Pastry Cook to join our kitchen team and contribute to the preparation of exceptional pastries, desserts, and baked specialties. The successful candidate will bring precision, consistency, and a genuine passion for pastry to every service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pastries, cakes, tarts, cookies, desserts, and other baked items according to established recipes and presentation standards.
• Measure, mix, portion, bake, and finish pastry products with accuracy and consistency.
• Prepare fillings, creams, sauces, glazes, doughs, and decorative components.
• Monitor oven temperatures, baking times, and product quality throughout production.
• Maintain an organised pastry station and ensure ingredients are properly stored and labelled.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and kitchen hygiene procedures at all times.
• Assist with developing new pastry items and seasonal dessert selections.
• Coordinate with chefs and other kitchen team members to ensure timely service.
• Monitor ingredient usage and report shortages or quality concerns to the appropriate supervisor.
• Minimise food waste while maintaining high standards of freshness and presentation.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Pastry Cook, Pastry Chef, Baker, or in a similar restaurant kitchen role.
• Practical knowledge of pastry preparation, baking techniques, and dessert production.
• Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen sanitation standards.
• Good attention to detail, particularly with measurements, textures, and presentation.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately while demonstrating creativity when appropriate.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle routine kitchen duties.
• Culinary or pastry training is an advantage.
