Kitchen Assistant

Job Description

We are looking for a dependable and hardworking Kitchen Assistant to support our culinary team with food preparation, cleanliness, and day-to-day kitchen operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining high standards of hygiene and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with basic food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
• Prepare ingredients and cooking stations before service begins.
• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen work areas, storage rooms, and food preparation surfaces.
• Receive, unpack, and properly store food deliveries following stock rotation procedures.
• Dispose of waste safely and maintain clean refuse areas.
• Restock kitchen supplies and notify supervisors when inventory is running low.
• Support the kitchen team during busy service periods as directed.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health and safety regulations at all times.
• Assist with cleaning duties at the end of each shift, including equipment and floors.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a restaurant, café, hotel, or commercial kitchen is an advantage but not essential.
• Basic understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Good physical stamina and the ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate loads.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.
• Willingness to learn new kitchen skills and follow instructions carefully.
