Kitchen Assistant

Job Description

Our restaurant is looking for a dependable and energetic Kitchen Assistant to join the team. If you enjoy working around food, keeping things organised, and helping the kitchen run smoothly, you will fit right in. This role is ideal for someone who is eager to learn, works well with others, and is ready to bring a positive attitude to every shift.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with food preparation, including washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients.
• Keep workstations, utensils, equipment, and kitchen areas clean and organised.
• Help receive, store, and arrange food supplies appropriately.
• Support the kitchen team during busy service periods.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures.
• Dispose of waste properly and maintain a tidy kitchen environment.
• Assist with dishwashing and general kitchen duties when required.
• Monitor kitchen supplies and report shortages to the appropriate team member.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a restaurant or commercial kitchen is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
• Good physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong teamwork and communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain high standards of cleanliness.
• Food safety training or certification is an added advantage.
