Head Waiter

Job Description

A busy café is looking for an experienced and confident Head Waiter to lead the front-of-house team and ensure every guest enjoys exceptional service. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced café environment, leads by example, and is passionate about creating memorable dining experiences while maintaining high service standards.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support the waiting team throughout each shift.
• Welcome guests warmly and ensure outstanding customer service.
• Coordinate table assignments and manage seating efficiently.
• Train, coach, and mentor new and existing service staff.
• Handle customer enquiries, requests, and complaints professionally.
• Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure timely and accurate food service.
• Monitor cleanliness, presentation, and organisation of the dining area.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
• Maintain stock of menus, condiments, and service supplies.
• Ensure all health, safety, and food hygiene standards are followed.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Head Waiter, Senior Waiter, or in a similar supervisory role within a café or food service environment.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proven ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
• Good organisational and multitasking skills.
• Ability to remain calm and efficient during busy service periods.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Professional appearance and a positive, customer-focused attitude.
