Grill Chef

Job Description

Our restaurant is looking for a skilled and dependable Grill Chef to join the kitchen team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of grill cooking, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to maintain consistent food quality during busy service periods. The Grill Chef will play an important role in preparing well-cooked, flavourful dishes while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation, and food safety.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook meats, poultry, seafood, vegetables, and other menu items on the grill.
• Monitor cooking temperatures and timings to ensure consistent results.
• Prepare ingredients, marinades, sauces, and garnishes required for grill dishes.
• Follow recipes, portion guidelines, and presentation standards.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe grill station throughout service.
• Inspect ingredients for freshness and report quality concerns to the kitchen supervisor.
• Coordinate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure orders are prepared promptly.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety procedures.
• Assist with stock rotation, ingredient preparation, and kitchen closing duties.
• Minimise food waste while maintaining efficient kitchen operations.

Qualifications

• Culinary training or a recognised qualification in professional cookery is preferred.
• Previous experience as a Grill Chef, Line Cook, or in a similar restaurant kitchen role.
• Strong knowledge of grilling techniques, cooking temperatures, and food preparation.
• Good understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene standards.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods.
• Strong attention to detail and consistency.
• Good teamwork and communication skills.
• Physically able to remain active for extended kitchen shifts.
