Director of Purchasing

Job Description

We are looking for a calm, detail-driven, and highly organized professional to take charge of purchasing operations in our cafe. This is a key leadership role for someone who enjoys balancing quality, cost, and consistency while keeping daily operations well supplied and running smoothly.

You will play a major role in shaping what ends up in our kitchen and behind our counter, working closely with suppliers, chefs, and management to make sure everything we serve reflects our standards.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all purchasing activities for food, beverages, and cafe supplies
• Build and maintain strong relationships with trusted suppliers and vendors
• Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms to ensure value and reliability
• Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs to avoid shortages or waste
• Work closely with kitchen and operations teams to understand demand and menu requirements
• Track spending and maintain accurate purchasing records and reports
• Ensure all purchases meet quality, freshness, and safety standards
• Continuously look for cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality

Qualifications

• Previous experience in procurement, purchasing, or supply chain management, preferably in hospitality or food service
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Good understanding of inventory systems and stock control practices
• Ability to analyze costs, budgets, and supplier performance
• High attention to detail and strong organizational ability
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, service-driven environment
• Leadership experience or ability to coordinate with multiple teams
• Integrity and sound judgment in decision-making
