Job Description

A great dining experience begins with a skilled kitchen team, and we are looking for a dedicated Commis Chef to join our restaurant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about food preparation, eager to develop culinary skills, and committed to maintaining high standards in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior chefs with preparing ingredients and cooking menu items.
• Wash, peel, chop, and portion ingredients according to recipes.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Store ingredients correctly and monitor stock rotation.
• Help with receiving and checking kitchen deliveries.
• Ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned and used safely.
• Support the team during busy service periods.
• Assist with plating dishes according to presentation standards.
• Report equipment faults or food quality concerns promptly.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Commis Chef, Kitchen Assistant, or in a similar restaurant kitchen role is an advantage.
• Basic understanding of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
• Knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to learn from experienced chefs and develop culinary skills.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow recipes and kitchen instructions accurately.
