Catering Assistant

Job Description

Our restaurant is looking for a dependable and service-focused Catering Assistant to support the kitchen and front-of-house teams in delivering well-prepared meals and an enjoyable dining experience. The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, service setup, cleaning, and general restaurant operations while maintaining high standards of hygiene, organisation, and customer care.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation and ingredient handling.
• Set up food service areas, tables, serving stations, and catering equipment.
• Portion and serve food according to restaurant standards.
• Keep kitchen, dining, and service areas clean, organised, and hygienic.
• Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and catering equipment as required.
• Monitor food supplies and report shortages or damaged items.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace health procedures.
• Support the restaurant team during busy service periods and special events.
• Handle food and equipment carefully to minimise waste and damage.
• Respond politely to customer requests and direct enquiries to the appropriate team member.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a restaurant, catering, food service, or similar environment is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently.
• Strong attention to cleanliness, organisation, and detail.
• Physically able to stand for extended periods and handle routine catering tasks.
