Catering Assistant

Job Description

We are looking for a dependable Catering Assistant to support our kitchen and restaurant teams. The successful candidate will help with food preparation, meal service, cleaning, stock handling, and general catering duties while maintaining high standards of hygiene and customer care.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation and portioning under the direction of the kitchen team.
• Support the preparation and presentation of meals for restaurant service.
• Keep kitchen, serving areas, utensils, and equipment clean and organised.
• Help receive, store, and rotate food supplies appropriately.
• Replenish ingredients, serving items, and other supplies when required.
• Assist with setting up and clearing dining and service areas.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace health procedures.
• Dispose of waste correctly and maintain a tidy working environment.
• Support chefs, servers, and other restaurant staff during busy service periods.
• Carry out additional catering duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a restaurant, catering operation, kitchen, or food service environment is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and work efficiently.
• Strong attention to cleanliness and organisation.
• Physically able to stand for extended periods and handle routine catering tasks.
• A catering, culinary, or food service qualification is an added advantage.
