Café Counter Assistant

Job Description

Bring energy, great customer service, and a positive attitude to a busy café where every interaction helps create an enjoyable experience for guests. We are looking for a Café Counter Assistant who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, preparing orders with care, maintaining a welcoming counter area, and ensuring customers receive prompt, friendly service.

Key Responsibilities

• Welcome customers warmly and assist with orders.
• Operate the point-of-sale system accurately and process payments.
• Prepare and serve beverages, snacks, and light meals according to café standards.
• Restock display counters, beverages, and supplies throughout the day.
• Keep the service counter, dining area, and equipment clean and organized.
• Answer customer questions about menu items and daily specials.
• Package takeaway orders accurately and efficiently.
• Work closely with kitchen and café team members to ensure timely service.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and sanitation procedures at all times.
• Assist with opening and closing duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a café, coffee shop, restaurant, or customer service role is an advantage.
• Friendly personality with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-moving environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Comfortable handling cash, card payments, and point-of-sale systems.
• Basic knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices.
• Strong teamwork skills with a dependable and professional approach.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and perform light lifting when required.
