Cafe Accountant

Job Description

Our cafe is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Cafe Accountant to oversee financial records and support effective day-to-day financial management. The successful candidate will work closely with management to maintain accurate accounts, monitor transactions, prepare financial reports, and help ensure the cafe operates with strong financial controls.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate daily financial records, including sales, expenses, purchases, and cash transactions.
• Reconcile cash, card, and other payment records.
• Prepare regular financial statements, reports, and management summaries.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable.
• Track cafe expenses and identify discrepancies or unusual transactions.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-control activities.
• Process invoices, receipts, and other financial documentation.
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and financial procedures.
• Assist with audits, tax documentation, and financial reviews.
• Provide management with accurate financial insights to support decision-making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
• Professional accounting certification or progress toward certification is an advantage.
• 2 to 4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a cafe, restaurant, retail, or food-service environment.
• Strong knowledge of bookkeeping, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.
• High level of accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality.
• Ability to manage deadlines and work effectively in a fast-paced cafe environment.
