Assistant Barista

Job Description

Our coffee shop is looking for an enthusiastic and service-focused Assistant Barista to support our daily coffee operations. The successful candidate will work closely with the barista team to prepare quality beverages, maintain an organised service area, and ensure every customer receives friendly and efficient service. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, has an interest in coffee, and is eager to develop practical skills in a fast-paced coffee shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing coffee, tea, smoothies, and other beverages according to established standards.
• Support the lead barista with espresso preparation, milk steaming, and beverage presentation.
• Take customer orders and process payments accurately.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the coffee preparation and service areas.
• Restock coffee beans, milk, syrups, cups, and other supplies as needed.
• Provide courteous and attentive customer service throughout each shift.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace procedures.
• Assist with opening and closing duties.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages or equipment issues promptly.
• Work effectively with colleagues to maintain smooth service during busy periods.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a coffee shop, café, restaurant, or customer service role is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of coffee preparation and beverage service is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
• A passion for coffee and excellent customer service.
