Job Description

Our restaurant is looking for a dependable and energetic Kitchen Assistant to support the kitchen team in maintaining efficient food preparation and service. The successful candidate will help keep workstations organised, assist with basic preparation, maintain cleanliness, and ensure kitchen operations run smoothly during busy service periods. This role is ideal for someone who works well in a team, follows instructions carefully, and takes pride in maintaining high standards.

Responsibilities

• Assist chefs with washing, peeling, chopping, and preparing ingredients.
• Keep kitchen surfaces, utensils, equipment, and storage areas clean and organised.
• Support the team with food preparation and plating as required.
• Receive, store, and organise food supplies appropriately.
• Wash dishes, cookware, and kitchen equipment efficiently.
• Dispose of waste according to restaurant procedures.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety standards.
• Help maintain an orderly kitchen during busy service periods.
• Report damaged equipment, shortages, or food safety concerns to supervisors.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a restaurant, kitchen, catering environment, or similar role is an advantage.
• Basic knowledge of food preparation and kitchen hygiene.
• Good understanding of food safety and safe handling practices.
• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong teamwork, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Good physical stamina and willingness to perform hands-on kitchen duties.
• Culinary training or a relevant food-service qualification is an advantage.
