A busy restaurant is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Butcher to join its kitchen team. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in preparing premium-quality meat cuts while maintaining the highest standards of hygiene, food safety, and efficiency. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the kitchen receives properly prepared meat products that meet the restaurant’s quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and store meat deliveries according to food safety standards.
• Cut, trim, debone, portion, and prepare various types of meat for kitchen use.
• Ensure all meat products meet quality and freshness standards before preparation.
• Label, package, and store meat appropriately to maintain freshness and prevent waste.
• Operate and maintain butchering equipment safely and efficiently.
• Monitor stock levels and report shortages or quality concerns to management.
• Follow sanitation procedures and maintain a clean, organized work area at all times.
• Minimize waste through accurate portioning and effective inventory management.
• Collaborate with chefs to prepare specialty cuts and meet daily production requirements.
• Comply with all health, safety, and food handling regulations.

Qualifications

• Certificate, diploma, or vocational training in Butchery, Meat Processing, Culinary Arts, or a related field is an advantage.
• Previous experience as a Butcher in a restaurant, hotel, supermarket, or meat processing environment.
• Strong knowledge of meat cuts, trimming techniques, and portion control.
• Familiarity with food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
• Ability to safely operate butchering tools and equipment.
• Good physical stamina and ability to work in a refrigerated environment.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
