Sommelier

Job Description

We are looking for a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Sommelier to join our restaurant team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys sharing their expertise, guiding guests through wine selections, and creating perfect food and wine pairings.

Responsibilities

• Recommend wines based on guest preferences and menu selections
• Develop and maintain an appealing wine list
• Create food and wine pairing suggestions
• Manage wine inventory, ordering, and stock rotation
• Monitor wine storage conditions and cellar organization
• Train restaurant staff on wine knowledge and service standards
• Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions when required
• Ensure responsible service of alcoholic beverages
• Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate purchases

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Sommelier or in a wine-focused restaurant role
• Professional wine certification such as WSET, CMS, or equivalent is preferred
• Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, vintages, and pairing principles
• Excellent communication and guest service skills
• Ability to educate and engage guests in a friendly manner
• Strong organizational and inventory management abilities
