Our hotel is looking for a skilled and creative Pastry Cook to join the culinary team. The successful candidate will contribute to the preparation of fresh pastries, desserts, breads, and baked specialties while maintaining the high standards expected from a professional hotel kitchen. We are seeking someone with strong attention to detail, a passion for baking, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare pastries, cakes, desserts, breads, and other baked products according to established recipes.
• Measure, mix, portion, shape, and bake ingredients with precision.
• Decorate and present pastries attractively for guests and hotel functions.
• Maintain consistent quality, taste, texture, and appearance across all products.
• Monitor baking times, temperatures, and ingredient quantities.
• Keep pastry preparation areas, equipment, and storage spaces clean and organised.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and kitchen hygiene standards.
• Assist with menu preparation and develop new pastry and dessert ideas.
• Monitor ingredient stocks and report shortages or quality concerns.
• Coordinate with chefs and kitchen staff to ensure timely service.
• Store ingredients and finished products correctly to preserve freshness.
• Minimise food waste through careful preparation and portion control.

Qualifications

• Certificate, diploma, or formal training in Pastry Arts, Baking, Culinary Arts, or a related field.
• Previous experience as a Pastry Cook, Baker, Commis Pastry Chef, or similar kitchen role is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of baking methods, pastry techniques, and dessert preparation.
• Good understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and consistency.
• Ability to follow recipes accurately and work independently when required.
• Good time management and organisational skills.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for developing attractive pastry products.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet service deadlines.
