Job Description

A busy restaurant is seeking a dependable and skilled Line Cook to join the kitchen team. The successful candidate will prepare high-quality dishes to specification, maintain efficient kitchen operations, and contribute to a clean, organised, and professional working environment. We are looking for someone who works well under pressure, follows food safety standards, and takes pride in consistent food preparation.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients, sauces, garnishes, and menu items according to established recipes and standards.
• Operate an assigned kitchen station efficiently during service periods.
• Cook food accurately while maintaining proper portion sizes, presentation, flavour, and temperature.
• Coordinate with chefs and other kitchen team members to ensure timely order completion.
• Monitor ingredient levels and communicate restocking needs to the appropriate team member.
• Maintain clean and organised workstations throughout preparation and service.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Store ingredients correctly and minimise food waste through proper handling and portion control.
• Assist with opening, closing, cleaning, and general kitchen duties as required.
• Support the wider kitchen team during busy service periods.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Line Cook, Commis Chef, Kitchen Assistant, or in a similar restaurant kitchen role.
• Culinary training or a recognised food preparation qualification is preferred.
• Strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen safety.
• Ability to follow recipes, portion standards, and kitchen instructions accurately.
• Good knowledge of food hygiene and safe food handling practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods and handle routine kitchen tasks.
