Kitchen Steward

Job Description

A well-organized restaurant is seeking a dependable Kitchen Steward to help maintain a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in cleanliness, works well under pressure, and enjoys supporting the kitchen team to ensure smooth daily operations.

Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen workstations, floors, walls, and storage areas.
• Dispose of waste and recycling according to established procedures.
• Replenish cleaning supplies and report shortages when necessary.
• Assist with receiving and storing deliveries in designated areas.
• Ensure food storage and preparation areas remain clean and hygienic.
• Support chefs and kitchen staff with basic cleaning and organization tasks.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards at all times.
• Operate dishwashing equipment safely and perform routine cleaning of machines.
• Assist with deep cleaning duties as scheduled.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Steward or in a similar cleaning or kitchen support role is an advantage.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and sanitation practices.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
• Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting kitchen supplies when required.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
• Good communication and time management skills.
