Kitchen Porter

Job Description

A busy restaurant is looking for a reliable and hardworking Kitchen Porter to support the kitchen team in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient working environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes, takes pride in cleanliness, and thrives in a fast paced setting. Every shift plays an important part in helping the kitchen deliver excellent food and service.

Key Responsibilities

• Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment promptly.
• Keep kitchen floors, workstations, and storage areas clean and sanitised.
• Assist with receiving, unpacking, and storing deliveries.
• Remove waste and recycling in line with food safety procedures.
• Support chefs with basic food preparation when required.
• Refill cleaning supplies and maintain organised storage areas.
• Ensure all cleaning tasks comply with health and safety regulations.
• Report equipment faults or maintenance issues to the appropriate supervisor.
• Assist with end of day kitchen cleaning and closing duties.
• Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to maintain smooth daily operations.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Kitchen Porter or in a similar cleaning or kitchen support role is an advantage but not essential.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast paced restaurant environment.
• Good understanding of food hygiene and workplace safety practices.
• Physically capable of standing for extended periods and lifting kitchen supplies when required.
• Strong work ethic with a dependable and positive attitude.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to cleanliness.
• Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks with minimal supervision.
