Job Description

A busy restaurant is seeking a capable and organised Kitchen Manager to oversee daily kitchen operations, maintain high food standards, and lead the kitchen team effectively. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, sound knowledge of food preparation and safety, and the ability to keep service running smoothly during busy periods.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the daily operations of the restaurant kitchen.
• Supervise, schedule, and coordinate kitchen staff.
• Ensure dishes are prepared consistently according to established standards.
• Monitor food quality, portion sizes, presentation, and preparation times.
• Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.
• Manage food inventory, stock rotation, ordering, and storage.
• Monitor food costs and minimise waste without compromising quality.
• Coordinate with chefs, servers, and restaurant management to ensure smooth service.
• Train new kitchen employees and provide ongoing guidance to the team.
• Monitor kitchen equipment and arrange maintenance when required.
• Ensure health and safety procedures are followed throughout the kitchen.
• Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and kitchen improvements where needed.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager, Sous Chef, Head Chef, or in a similar restaurant leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations, and food safety standards.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate a kitchen team.
• Good understanding of inventory management, food costing, and waste control.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions during busy service periods.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Culinary training or a relevant food-service qualification is an advantage.
• Food safety certification is preferred.
