Inventory Officer

Job Description

An organised and efficient café is built on strong inventory management, and we are looking for an Inventory Officer to help keep our operations running smoothly. If you enjoy working with stock, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring ingredients and supplies are always available when needed, this opportunity offers a rewarding role in a fast-paced café environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor daily stock levels of food ingredients, beverages, packaging materials, cleaning supplies, and other café inventory.
• Receive, inspect, and record incoming deliveries, ensuring quantities and quality meet purchase orders.
• Maintain accurate inventory records using manual and digital inventory systems.
• Conduct regular stock counts and investigate inventory discrepancies.
• Issue supplies to kitchen and service teams while maintaining proper documentation.
• Monitor stock movement and identify slow-moving or fast-moving items.
• Coordinate with suppliers and internal departments to support timely replenishment.
• Ensure products are stored correctly and comply with food safety and storage standards.
• Prepare inventory reports for management, including stock usage, shortages, and reorder recommendations.
• Help minimise waste, overstocking, and inventory losses through effective stock control practices.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in inventory, stock control, storekeeping, or a related role, preferably in a café, restaurant, or food service environment.
• Good understanding of inventory management principles and stock rotation practices.
• Strong numerical and record-keeping skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and inventory management software is an advantage.
• Ability to organise multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Honest, dependable, and capable of handling confidential inventory information.
• Ability to lift and move stock items safely when required.
