Inventory Controller

Job Description

A well-organised coffee shop is seeking a detail-oriented Inventory Controller to oversee stock management and ensure essential ingredients, beverages, packaging, and supplies are consistently available. The successful candidate will play an important role in controlling costs, maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock movement, and supporting smooth daily operations within the coffee shop.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, pastries, beverages, packaging materials, and other supplies.
• Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile physical quantities with inventory records.
• Record stock receipts, transfers, usage, wastage, and adjustments accurately.
• Identify slow-moving, damaged, expired, or excess inventory and report findings promptly.
• Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely deliveries and accurate orders.
• Maintain proper storage and rotation practices to minimise spoilage and waste.
• Prepare inventory reports and highlight significant variances or purchasing concerns.
• Work closely with the coffee shop manager and purchasing team to maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Support cost-control initiatives by monitoring consumption and reducing unnecessary losses.
• Ensure inventory areas remain organised, clean, and compliant with food safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Inventory Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
• Previous experience in inventory control, stock management, purchasing, or a similar role, preferably within a coffee shop, café, restaurant, or food service environment.
• Strong numerical and record-keeping skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or inventory management software.
• Good understanding of stock rotation, wastage control, and inventory reconciliation.
• Strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced coffee shop environment.
