Inventory Clerk

Job Description

We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Inventory Clerk to support our daily cafe operations by monitoring stock levels, recording inventory movements, and helping ensure essential ingredients and supplies are available when needed.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and record incoming food, beverages, packaging, and operational supplies.
• Maintain accurate inventory records and update stock movements promptly.
• Conduct regular stock counts and reconcile physical quantities with inventory records.
• Monitor stock levels and identify items that require replenishment.
• Check products for quality, expiry dates, damage, and proper storage conditions.
• Organise inventory areas to ensure items are stored safely and efficiently.
• Assist with preparing inventory reports and stock summaries.
• Communicate shortages, discrepancies, damaged goods, and unusual stock movements to management.
• Support purchasing activities by providing accurate stock information.
• Follow food safety, hygiene, storage, and inventory control procedures.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Inventory Management, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
• Previous experience in inventory control, stock management, retail, food service, or a cafe environment is an advantage.
• Good numerical and record-keeping skills with strong attention to detail.
• Familiarity with inventory management systems, spreadsheets, or point-of-sale software.
• Ability to organise stock efficiently and maintain accurate documentation.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently while meeting established procedures and deadlines.
• Strong awareness of food safety and proper storage practices.
• Reliability, integrity, and a proactive approach to identifying stock discrepancies.
