Head Waiter

Job Description

Our restaurant is seeking an experienced and attentive Head Waiter to lead the front-of-house service team and help deliver consistently excellent dining experiences. The successful candidate will combine strong leadership with excellent table service, ensuring guests are welcomed warmly, served efficiently, and supported throughout their visit. If you have a confident presence, strong knowledge of restaurant service, and the ability to guide a team during busy periods, we would like to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate waitstaff during daily restaurant operations and service periods.
• Assign tables and duties to team members while maintaining smooth service flow.
• Welcome guests, assist with seating, and ensure attentive service throughout their meal.
• Monitor table service to ensure orders are accurate, timely, and presented appropriately.
• Support waiters with complex guest requests and resolve service concerns professionally.
• Coordinate closely with the kitchen and management team to minimise delays and errors.
• Brief service staff before shifts on reservations, menu updates, special requests, and service priorities.
• Train and mentor junior waitstaff on restaurant standards, service techniques, and guest care.
• Monitor dining areas to ensure tables remain clean, organised, and properly set.
• Assist with handling bills, payments, and other front-of-house duties when required.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation, and professional conduct.
• Report operational issues and guest feedback to the restaurant management team.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Head Waiter, Senior Waiter, Captain, or in a similar restaurant service role.
• Strong knowledge of restaurant service procedures and dining etiquette.
• Proven ability to supervise and motivate a front-of-house team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good knowledge of food and beverage service.
• Strong organisation and time-management abilities.
• Ability to remain composed and effective during busy service periods.
• Professional appearance and confident customer-service approach.
• Good problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
• Food safety or restaurant service training is an advantage.
